Rubio is a fiction writer from Santa Ana, California.Her work has been published in literary magazines The Normal School, Kweli Journal, Slice Magazine, The Rattling Wall, Asian American Literary Review, and Grimoire. Her fiction has also been included in the anthologies Exigencies: A Neo Noir Anthology, and Choose Wisely: 35 Women Up to No Good. Her nonfiction has been published in Los Angeles Times and the OC Register. Marytza has received honors and fellowships from PEN Center USA, Rona Jaffe/Breadloaf Writers' Conference, VONA, and the Room of Her Own Foundation.
